Welcome to the Massillon Police Department Traffic & Parking Enforcement
The Traffic Officer’s primary duties are to enforce the City of Massillon Ordinances involving junk and or abandoned vehicles. The Traffic Officer responds to complaints from the public about vehicles left on the street, businesses and private property. Unless the violation requires immediate towing, usually a limited time notice is placed on the vehicle. After the expiration of time, the vehicle will be impounded by one of the (3) tow companies used by the city, Reed’s, Rohr’s or Oscar’s. If the owner has not responded within 30 days from the time of the impound, the traffic officer processes the vehicle thru Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles for final disposition. The vehicle will be junked or salvaged titled to the tow company.
This office also processes necessary paperwork for the State of Ohio and the Massillon Courts for OVI Offenders (Operating a vehicle while Intoxicated) and follows thru with the confiscation and forfeiture of the vehicle and plates if applicable. Twice a year, this officer inspects garbage trucks that do business within Massillon to ensure the safety of the truck and its use while in the city.
The Traffic Officer keeps statistics on traffic in the city including accidents, citations, tows, and traffic activity by each officer and makes a monthly report to the Chief of Police and the City Administrators.
This office is open Monday thru Friday, 7AM to 3PM. After these hours call 330-832-9811 for shift officers.
