The Massillon Police Department employs a specialized unit to deal with Child Abuse and Child Exploitation. The Investigative Unit works in conjunction with Stark County Children Services and has a 24 hour on-call investigator.

The Massillon Police Department also is a member of the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force to combat the rising number of individuals who are soliciting children for sex over the Internet.

If you have information about the abuse or neglect of a child, you can report your suspicions to 330-830-1754 or the 24-hour hotline at 330- 455-KIDS (4537).

On-line solicitation and suspect information can be forwarded to Detective Grizzard or the local FBI Office 330-456-6200.

What to do if you suspect that your child is a victim of abuse.

Ø Do Not further question the child
Ø Do Not confront the Offender
Ø Do Not conduct your own investigation
Ø Do Not discuss this with other family members who will contact the Offender
Ø Do contact law enforcement or Child Protective Services

What to do if your child has become an Internet Victim

Ø Do Not conduct your own investigations
Ø Do preserve all on-line e-mails or other correspondences
Ø Do Not allow the child to return on-line until law enforcement can investigate
Ø Do Not interview the child yourself
Ø Do Not contact the Offender
Ø Do contact your local law enforcement agency or FBI Office
