MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
MASSILLON CITY COUNCIL
HELD, MONDAY, APRIL 16, 2007

COUNCIL PRESIDENT GAMBER I d like to welcome all of you to Massillon City Council for Monday, April 16, 2007. We have in attendance with us this evening: Auditor Hamit, Law Director Stergios and Community Development Aaby. On the wall to your left are agendas for anyone who wishes to follow the meeting. Also under item #5 on the agenda is where the public can speak on any item that appears on the agenda and then under item #17 is where the public can speak on any item that does not appear on the agenda. I d also like to remind anyone with a cell phone please turn it off or turn it very far down.

1. ROLL CALL

Roll call for the evening found the following Council Members present: Tim Bryan, Kathy Catazaro-Perry, Jayne Ferrero, Paul Manson, Dave McCune, Donnie Peters and Tony Townsend.

Thus giving a roll call vote of 7 present.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT GAMBER Alright, have you heard from anyone that wouldn’t be here?

COUNCIL CLERK MARY BETH – No, I know that Ron will not.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT GAMBER Councilman Bryan?

COUNCILMAN BRYAN Councilmen Mang and Maier are both out of town on vacation. So I will move to excuse Councilmen Mang and Maier, seconded by Councilwoman Catazaro-Perry.

Roll call vote of 7 yes to excuse Councilmen Mang and Maier.

2. INVOCATION

COUNCILWOMAN CATAZARO-PERRY – Gave the invocation for tonight.

3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

COUNCILWOMAN CATAZARO-PERRY – Chairperson of the Finance Committee led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT GAMBER Madame Clerk are the minutes of the previous meeting transcribed and open for public viewing (THEY ARE) Are there any additions or corrections to the minutes. If not the minutes stand approved as written.

6. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS

ORDINANCE NO. 49 2007 BY: FINANCE COMMITTEE

Authorizing the Director of Law to renew the one year contract with the City of Canal Fulton, purpose of providing prosecutorial services.

COUNCILWOMAN CATAZARO-PERRY This is an annual contract with our law department and the City of Canal Fulton. It’s a standard contract and Canal Fulton shall pay $24,000.00 under this contract.

COUNCILWOMAN CATAZARO-PERRY moved for suspension of the rules and passage, seconded by Councilman Peters.

The rules were suspended by a roll call vote of 7 yes.

ORDINANCE NO. 49 – 2007 WAS PASSED BY A ROLL CALL VOTE OF 7 YES.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT GAMBER We have the week off next week because of 5 Mondays. So we’ll have our committee meetings Monday, April 30th starting at 5:45pm.

COUNCILWOMAN CATAZARO-PERRY I would like to congratulate our Councilman Tony Townsend as he has been appointed by Governor Strictland to serve on the committee to select the judge to replace Judge Sara Lioi.

ORDINANCE NO. 41 2007 BY: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Application for the Community Development Block Grant Program.

ORDINANCE NO. 41 – 2007 WAS GIVEN SECOND READING.

ORDINANCE NO. 42 2007 BY: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Rezoning a certain tract of land from R-T Two Family Residential and RM-1 Multiple Family Residential to R-1 Single Family Residential for further development of Ballinger Estates.

COUNCILMAN TOWNSEND Second reading. Public hearing will be Monday, May 7th at 7:00pm.
